Can a phone RPG feel like a real RPG? Ironvale says yes
I used to think proper RPGs and phones didn't mix. Too much menu-diving, too many stats squeezed onto a screen the size of a playing card. Ironvale Legends changed my mind by keeping its systems tight instead of sprawling.
Combat is turn-based, which suits touch controls perfectly. You have time to read the board, plan turn order and tap deliberately, so nothing is lost to twitchy inputs. Boss fights become little puzzles about survival and timing.
The story is what surprised me most. It's a melancholy tale about a kingdom already past saving, and the side characters actually grow instead of handing out fetch quests. I cared about the party by the end, which is rare on any platform.
My tip: don't skip the optional dungeons early. The gear and levels you pick up there smooth out a mid-game spike that otherwise catches people off guard. Play at your own pace and it's one of the most complete RPGs on mobile.
